About Crying Tiger

Crying Tiger celebrates the bold flavors of Southeast Asia, the first collaboration between James Beard Finalist Thai Dang and Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants. Designed by David Collins Studio, the space blends night-market energy with Chicago's architecture, featuring a tiger in hand-glazed ceramic tiles, a winter garden, and a 10-seat private dining room. The menu features shareable dishes like Prawn Toast Youtiao, Clay Pot Lobster Pad Thai, and Grilled Wagyu Beef Nam Tok, plus housemade curries and desserts from Netflix's School of Chocolate winner, Pastry Chef Juan Gutierrez. Beverage Director Kevin Beary's program pairs craft cocktails with zero-proof drinks inspired by Thai and Vietnamese cafΓ© culture.

Was able to book dinner reservation for 7pm last min. Heard great things about this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Definitely wanted to order crispy pork belly but it was sold out. Our server Wah suggested another pork dish called Kor Moo Yang. Not sure how good crispy pork belly is but we could’ve had another Kor Moo Yang. It was delicious. Everything we ordered was tasty as well. We were unsure of the curry dish since didn’t have much experience with curry. Omg! It was so so good. Every spoonful had all the delicious flavors in one spoon. And of course, highlight of our dinner was the β€œCrying Tiger” banana dessert with caramel poured around Tiger dessert. We were very full with all we had but managed to finish the dessert. I can’t wait to come back next time to try all other dishes I didn’t get to taste today. This restaurant is a must. Everything from ambience to great service to delicious food. Shout out to our server Wah for making our dinner experience a top notch.

The food was amazing from start to finish. The glass noodles definitely stood out as a favorite, the prawn toast was delicious, and the fried rice was packed with flavor and a bit spicy. Besides the food, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They were very attentive, and were asking us about allergies and pork restrictions, which we highly appreciated. The signature tiger dessert was a total showstopper! It looked absolutely gorgeous and tasted phenomenal. I highly recommend ordering a bunch of different dishes and sharing everything family style.

We had an awesome time here. Went out with another couple. It was a bit much to get a reservation, but the food was pretty good. Good cocktails. Music was a bit loud. Try for an earlier reservation time. Probably won’t be back. But not mad I checked it out.

This was the best meal I had in Chicago. I cannot wait to go back. Atmosphere, service, food, and drinks were phenomenal. I sat at the bar on New Year’s Eve and it was a great experience. I highly recommend getting a reservation if possible. If you cannot get one, arrive as soon as they open and sit at the bar! You will most likely get a seat!

This place had been on my must-visit list for a while, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, with an amazing atmosphere and attention to detail that makes the whole experience feel special. The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding β€” friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Everything came together perfectly, making for a memorable dining experience. I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food and a fantastic vibe.
